WTF! 63 Senators Move To Impeach President Jonathan?

President Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency is alleged to be in serious jeopardy, according to Punch, as of last night 63 senators had signed up to impeach him.

A source told the publication that 8 of the 63 senate members are part of GEJ’s Peoples Democratic Party, with the rest constituting members of the opposition All Progressives Congress Party (APC).

The senators have allegedly cited poor implementation of the national budget since 2011, alleged high level of corruption and “gross disregard” of the legislature at both the federal and state levels as the reasons they are calling for Jonathan’s impeachment.

There are 109 members in the Senate.

The source who gave the impeachment news is an anonymous member of the senate.

However an APC Senator – Ibrahim Musa confirmed to Punch that there were moves by some members of the Senate to initiate impeachment proceedings against the President but failed to give details.

He said,

I think there is something like that but I don’t have the details, it is still coming as a rumour,”

However Punch reports that the impeachment move against the President had gained momentum with the APC senators mobilizing themselves to carry out the exercise anytime from next week.

As at the time of filing this report no comment had been made by te presidency about the alleged impeachment move.

2015 is going to be very hot in the political arena
